It seems like amazon or someone would buy this bled business @ .20 to .30 per share, especially if real estate came with the buyout. (but all that's above my understandings))

Curious as why. Due to poor management?

Investopedia provides a rather lengthy synopsis: https://www.investopedia.com/news/downfall-of-sears/

Absolutely. Lack of and flawed foresight.

One more week to spend those Sears gift cards in the back of the drawer.

Amazon and Walmart will fall too eventually. No one stays on top and cutting edge indefinitely.

It's lights out for Sears on Tuesday unless Eddie Lampert can sweeten his bid

Sears is planning to announce its decision on Chairman Eddie Lampert's bid to save the company Tuesday morning, people familiar with situation tell CNBC.

Sears believes Lampert's bid is short, and the two parties have been unable to come to a resolution.

Without a fix, Sears will liquidate.

Judge gives Lampert more time. Maybe it's delaying the inevitable, but a ray of hope for 50,000 employees.

Bystanders of Sears' downfall will get their day in court Monday

Sears Holdings unsecured creditors will head to bankruptcy court in White Plains, New York on Monday, Feb. 4 to protest Eddie Lampert's $5.2 billion bid to save the company, which owns both Sears department stores and Kmart.

The offer is the only one that would keep Sears alive, but its unsecured creditors allege misdealing by Lampert under his tenure as chairman and CEO.

Judge Robert Drain will hear the objections and rebuttals, and make an ultimate ruling regarding the company's future.

Eddie Lampert's deal to buy Sears granted approval, as retailer is given a second life

A federal bankruptcy court judge approved the sale of Sears Holdings to billionaire Eddie Lampert.

The $5.2 billion deal is expected to save 425 stores and roughly 45,000 jobs.

Judge Robert Drain overheard a litany of concerns over a three-day hearing from Sears' unsecured creditors, who pointed to potential flaws in ESL's business plan and its previous failures running the retail giant, in their arguments against the deal.

You can expect more JC Penney store closures in 2020 and beyond

J.C. Penney says it will close just 18 department stores, in addition to nine home and furniture shops, in 2019.

Analysts say there could be more on the horizon.

Penney Treasurer Trent Kruse says: "I think that's a fair read."

Sears sues former CEO Eddie Lampert, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin and others for alleged 'thefts' of billions from retailer

"Altogether, Lampert caused more than $2 billion of assets to be transferred to himself and Sears' other shareholders and beyond the reach of Sears' creditors," the lawsuit alleges.

I took advantage of "spend a $100. and get $20. off" coupon, which also qualified for my "spend 100.00 and get 100. back".(I'll get 4- $25. store or online sears credits, 1 every 2 weeks [see details somewhere])
...at my checkout I also got a "$20. off $20. online only" coupon, expires in 7 days.
The "ShopYourWay" mbrship has been really good to me last couple years. I got several "Spend $15. get $5. off" coupons + many more. (Most good at Kmart too)
-They are just begging to give stuff away , sad for them

...Sad and sentimentally, Little Rock's last Sears Dept store closes its doors this February, 2020.
The other closed last year and was bulldozed back to the earth, parking lot and all.
----My family grew up on Sears....School/church clothes, shoes, many sets of tires, shocks, auto work, a few lawn mowers, crappy chainsaws weedeaters and blowers, so many tools and boxes, a boat motor,fishin/huntin stuff, weightbench, gascans, waterhoses, refrigerators, dishwasher, washer, dryer, freezer, window AC,pots/pans,patio furniture, grills, beds,TVs,radio, curtains, 1st microwave, air popcorn popper, more misc. appliances, cordless telephone, vacuum, etc, etc, etc!!!
My grampa bought a shed(in a box) there and me and him put it together, it had 28,000 nuts and bolts and about that many roof leaks. Then he bought a second one a little bigger. :x . One of the stores had a "nut store" in it where you could buy hot nuts. I met 'Winnie the Pooh' at one store.
My butt would go numb reading that 'Christmas Wishbook' catalog while sittin on the toilet too long.
.....I can't imagine my childhood without Sears!

-I got my first credit card with them. I bought from and depended on them just like my folks did. Their 'weather beater' paint helped build my handyman business, then a mower to expand to lawn svc, tools to keep bigger equip going, workclothes-boots, etc. as my biz grew.
Without their credit and what they sold me I may have never became a successful biz owner! .

Just be careful that you don't get too comfortable. If the store in your area closes and there isn't another one nearby, you may feel some pain.
