Birthday coins for children

Postby 300Braveheart » Tue Apr 03, 2018

Having our firstborn daughter in a month. I've read some fathers here like to buy a coin each year for their children... just curious, do you end up surprising them at a certain age with all of them or just give them to them one year at a time?

It was tough to pick a coin to stick with, but I decided to go with graded 1 oz. silver Britannias :-) Wanted to go with the platinum versions, but I'd just end up keeping them

I buy a Graded PF-70 Proof ASE for my daughter every year. I haven’t quite decided when to give the collection to her......

Good question. My 2nd child turned 1 yr old today. She so far has 2ounces of gold. Each kid gets an ounce of gold for xmas, whatever I feel like buying at the time really. Probably going to try to keep it a secret as long as possible or maybe just not tell them how much they really have.

I started off by getting as many world 1oz coins for each of my kids birth year. Then my father in law gets each a engraved 1oz generic for their birthday and for Christmas. I keep all of them in the safe and plan on letting them have them once they get old enough to understand what they are. I add to their stacks from time to time just to give them a health amount when it’s time. I think they are both up to about 25-30 oz now.

How about a wedding present reveal? As long as that's after some type of school. Money always helps but once you learn that you don't always need it and to spend it it becomes even more precious. I'm my case 34 would have been a good age.

Consider something along these lines. Maybe some kind of birth coin type set with silver coins.
