Wiped out: Town flushes final roll of 12-year toilet paper supply

A Bavarian town needed 12 years, but it has finally reached the last roll of a supersized toilet paper order. While the town saved €1,000 with the bulk order, it's planning to establish regular deliveries of two-ply.

It took 12 years for Bavaria's village of Fuchstal to run out of toilet paper, but "the last roll has now been used up," Mayor Erwin Karg told reporters on Tuesday.

The trouble began in 2006, when a town employee accidentally ordered two truckloads of the product, according to local media reports at the time. When the first vehicle rolled up to the 4,000-people town and delivered the goods, the authorities realized the mistake and managed to cancel the second truck. Even so, the village of Fuchstal was left with the logistical problem of packing away the paper.

You know you're getting old when you've never heard of any of the nominees for Best New Pop Artist on an awards show. But this is just getting stupid: none of the 5 have last names, two are all caps for some reason, and the winner hides his face like a chicken-fluff.

Best New Pop Artist:

Bazzi
Lauv
Marshmello – WINNER
MAX
NF

From the iHeartRadio awards.

Pop music has been cancerous for the last three decades, pretty much since the mainstreaming of rap/hip hop. The music industry has nearly killed itself with an endless stream of highly produced but forgettable acts with little to no musical talent or songwriting chops. The catalogs for these artists are worthless months after their "music" is released and it will remain that way until the end of time. There will never be a day when you scan your dial and hear a radio station formatted around the "Hits of the Aughts". </rant off>

Good word Rik. And I agree completely. Most of the over-produced and processed music today will have no staying power. You won't be humming it in 20 yrs.

p.s. and it's not about an old fogey (sp) not being up on the times. Well written, played and produced music is good no matter what era it's in.

Agreed.

DC just recently got a station devoted mainly to the '80s.

On the other hand, will radio even survive much longer, at least in terms of music?

Well, look what he decided to call himself. I have no idea what the guy looks like or his image (I'll go out on a limb and guess it's a well-manicured persona), but that name doesn't exactly scream "well-adjusted confident guy" now does it?

Guys, analytics have entered music more profoundly that they've saturated baseball. The music industry have figured out what catches the ear. It's called the "millennial whoop." I've posted on here about it before. There's no creativity, true musical creativity on popular radio. How long will it last?:

How long will it last?

It depends if people get tired of hearing it.

I'm sure there are musical geniuses out there wasting away in the garage every day.

I'll take a shot at this one. Completely hypothetical situation: Let's say you posted something about AOC posing nude. Then a week and a half later or so, someone spotted a funny meme and decided to reply to your post. Let's pretend this meme was a mock up of a pron link titled "Latina Babe (*has coitus with) all of NYC at Once" with a pic indicating how AOC drove Amazon away. *Of course, you know the word actually used. If this were to happen, I'm sure the post would be quickly removed and said commentor sternly reprimanded.

I wonder if something like this would create the situation you describe? I have no idea really, just a shot in the dark.

Houston Library Allowed Sex Offender to Read to Kids During Drag Queen Storytime

In other news, the Houston Public Library — the city government, y’all — sponsors a thing called Drag Queen Storytime, where troubled men put on women’s clothes and read books to small children.

The lunatics who promote Drag Queen Storytime claim the idea is “to promote love and acceptance.” Rational and caring parents, who understand that protecting your child’s innocence, especially from things like adult sexuality, are suing the city to stop this madness. They claim that the government sponsoring “secular humanism” violates the Constitution’s Establishment Clause on religion.

And now we learn that a six-foot, 200-pound sex offender managed to slip through the library’s screening system, slip on a dress, and read to small children — all of it sponsored by the government.

He calls himself Tatiana Mala Nina, but his real name is Alberto Garza, and in 2008 he was convicted of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old boy.

Police: Suspected Burglar Found Dead, Crushed by 900-Pound Safe

Homeowners in Indiana found a suspected burglar’s body fatally crushed by a 900-pound safe, local authorities announced this week.

The Marion Police Department announced Thursday that it received a call from a homeowner, George Hollingsworth, reporting a suspected break-in.

Hollingsworth told the authorities he thought a burglar broke into his garage on Tuesday because his door frame suffered some damage, but he could not tell what items had been stolen due to the clutter.

When the Indiana homeowner cleared out his garage the following day to account for any missing items, he discovered a body crushed underneath his 900-pound antique safe which apparently fell over, Marion Police Department’s Deputy Chief Stephen D. Dorsey said.

NASA issues space herpes warning as virus reactivates in astronauts

NASA has issued a warning about space herpes after a study found the virus was reactivating in crew aboard Space Shuttle and International Space Station missions.

According to the agency, while only a small proportion of the astronauts develop symptoms as a result of the dormant virus awakening, it could spell danger for longer spaceflight missions - for instance to Mars.

The lawyers who took on Big Tobacco are aiming at Realtors and their 6% fee

A new class-action lawsuit takes aim at real estate agents and the tools they use to do business, and housing industry watchers say it could revolutionize the way Americans buy and sell the biggest asset they’ll ever own.

The suit was filed in Chicago on behalf of anyone who sold a home through one of 20 of the largest listing services in the country over the past five years. It charges that the mighty Washington-based lobby National Association of Realtors, as well as the four largest national real estate brokerages, and the Multiple Listing Services they use, have conspired to require anyone selling a home to pay the commission of the broker representing their buyer “at an inflated amount,” in violation of federal antitrust law.
