Speaking of the Astros, remind me again who the Nationals beat to win the World Series?

Of course, we recently signed one of their relievers who helped us do that. Sad.

There is no reason to think that the Astros were not still cheating when they played my Nationals in the WS less than 3 months ago. You may recall that we won all 4 games in Houston (they couldn't cheat, at least the same way, on the road). How did we do that? (Why we coulnd't when at home is a whole 'nother ball of wax. )

It was already a rumor by that point that Houston was stealing signs somehow. So the Nats did this:

Every Nats pitcher was given five sets of signs to indicate his pitches. For example, one finger for a fastball, two for a curve, three for a change-up and so forth. But the Nats went further. Each of their 12 pitchers got five different set of signs. Perhaps in “Sign Set 1” a single finger would mean a slider to Max Scherzer, but the same one finger might mean a change-up to Stephen Strasburg.

How on earth could a pitcher keep so many sets of signals straight in his mind, especially under World Series pressure? Each Nats pitcher had his own five personal sign sets pasted under the bill of his hat. And both pitcher and catcher had to coordinate which set they were using.

On every pitch.

In a related note - with nationwide sports betting about to take hold, it is just a matter of time before we have a new cheating scandal directly related to betting. I'd bet on it. ;)

PS - Since they were not stripped of their title, they should be forced to change their name to the Houston Asterisks.

Red Sox Manager Alex Cora Fired in Sign-Stealing Scandal

Alex Cora has already been identified as a ringleader in an illegal system of sign stealing when he was with the Houston Astros.

The Red Sox didn’t wait to see what punishment Major League Baseball might give him for possibly bringing a similar scheme with him to Boston.

Cora was fired by the team he led to the 2018 World Series title on Tuesday night, one day after baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said he was “an active participant” in the Astros’ cheating when he was a bench coach in Houston.

The 2020 NCAA Championship trophy was in the local TV station this morning.
Its beautiful, made at the same place as the Oscars they said.
So the guy that is in charge of the trophy until tomorrow night was telling the news anchor that once the game was over only the team members can touch it.
The weather lady (who was off camera) was heard saying " Well, Can I kiss it? "
The guy responds " OK, We can talk about it off camera"

Cora was not fired by the Red Sox, "Cora met Tuesday with Boston management and they issued a release saying they had “mutually agreed to part ways.” Had the Sox fired Cora before MLB suspended him they would be responsible for Cora's salary. By "mutually agreeing to part ways" the Sox do not owe Cora any money. Cora knew he was going to be roasted by MLB (hopefully lifetime ban) so he tried to save some face by volunteering to leave Boston. How could anyone involved believe that eventually this rotten scheme would not get outed with so many players getting traded or changing teams through free agency. What a POS!!!!! I'm a Sox fan and I hope when todays season tickets go on sale that they do not sell out, hopefully many season ticket holders refuse to reorder. What are the odds that other teams did the same or a similar stunt? First the Pats, now the Sox are the Bruins next?

Maan,, I lost bit of respect for OBJ :|
Right before the game he contacted each player to give them encouragement, but then He was shown giving away cash to the players ( players said they thought it was fake money?) at the end of the game. Joe B said so last night also, thats kinda sad to tarnish their Championship win. but.....

New Mets Manager Beltrán Out Amid Sign-Stealing Scandal

Carlos Beltrán is out as manager of the New York Mets before a single game, the latest fallout from the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal that has rocked Major League Baseball.

The Mets announced the decision Thursday in a news release, saying Beltrán and the team “agreed to mutually part ways.” The move came two days after Boston cut ties with manager Alex Cora, who was Houston’s bench coach in 2017 when Beltrán played for the Astros.

I know Im wrong for saying this, and its not the old guys fault, but why was a Security guard hanging around in the team locker room after the game anyway? Making sure no one was smoking cigars? :|
Not that it really matters but the guy seemed to be really old and was just kinda in the way of things?
The players seemed to be ignoring or laughing at him for "checking" the players and questioning them??
The old guy was destined to question the wrong player eventually, jmho. Maybe it went better( as bad as is was) than it could have. Hope the guy is OK.

really, National Champs that are sky high celebrating in their own locker room (in NOLA at that). For many it was their last game even.
Come on now, You dont know and you dont want to know what happened in the French Quarter later

And its not Coach's fault, he has an open invitation to any former Tiger to be able to visit at anytime. But Coach O isnt a baby sitter.
OB was probably good and drunk by that time and the old guy will rightfully get paid but it never should have happened. They were saying on the NO news that OB might get a little bit of jail time, to make an example.

I'm with you. Whoever sent the security guard in there right after the game, during their celebrations, was just asking for trouble. I understand you're not supposed to smoke indoors, but come on it's a massive celebration. He should of just sat back and made sure things didn't get to out of handle and let them celebrate, but he was also just doing his job.

OBJ on the other hand was just making everything about him. Handing out cash to the player was just a stupid idea. Slapping the guard on the butt another stupid idea. I understand he was celebrating, but keep your mind right when doing so. He may have caused so big problems for LSU, but we'll just have to see how it all plays out. Sucks he tarnished a great finish by arguably one of LSU's greatest seasons.

Yea, I think the coaches can handle their players, they have been doing it all year.
OBJ must have bet a bundle on the game. Most people here knew -4/-5 was a good bet, Most Games have been blowouts and it could have been worse if they wanted. I would never personally place a bet on or against the Tigers.
I hear it was $100 bills being handed out, but who knows?
He did reach out to each player before the game to get them going.

:shh: Our star QB was smoking a fat cigar also, but you wont see this. Coach O even said to Joe as they were finishing the post game interview " Be careful with that cigar, Boy" lmao

On the local news just now the off camera person was throwing boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the 3 anchors at the desk and one of them caught a wild pass and said "that was a OBJ catch!"
Everyone started laughing.
The girl looked at him and said that was bad timing.

They have the crystal Coach's Trophy in the studio and its some kind of Wonderful

An LSU official just said that the White House Secret Service told him that the Tigers were the most respectful and well behaved team they have ever had at the White House.
The Secret Service wanted to hang out with the players and take pics with them :)

Free Wings for everyone if there is an OT in the SB :D
I think a OT only happened once before but there is a 10% chance they say.
By the pt spread, it seems like an even game, so maybe so
