Put my brother on a nice fish

Postby Diggin4copper » Sun Jun 10, 2018

Light tackle in a small saltwater river near my house.. I told him to cast upstream near a nice ripple where there is a drop off.. bam! He is a happy guy tonight..not big as stripers go, but big for the river..

Nice. Did a bit of a overhaul on my boat this year electrically. One more weekend worth of pulling and placing wires and I should be back out on the water. The Groupers and Kings are calling me!!

This statement couldn’t be more true, but worth the family time and fun to me. Also some good eating too!

Absolutely. I used to launch my 17' ski boat in the bayou and my 10 yr old daughter would drive the boat from the launch, down the bayou and across Lake Maurepas to get to the sandbar to swim with her friends.

I had an Alumacraft T-14 and a 15hp Johnson motor. Great combo for solo fishing, would handle fairly rough water, with just myself in it top speed was 25mph so it got up and moved... but even an engine that size breaks down and requires repairs... over the 20 years I had it I replaced: carburetor, water pump 5 times(I ran the river which meant a lot of silt...), lower unit seals multiple times, lower unit gears twice, prop about once a year(running the river eats props here, rocks, logs, sand bars that move...)

So even small boats are money pits over time!
