The UPMA guy says find a friendly legislator in your state and politely ask them to consider the law passed by Utah as good legislation for your state. It may be impossible in NY or IL (no ill feelings for BS members who live in those states intended), but the West and the South? Some states in the Midwest? New Hampshire, home of the Free State Project?

Bucketeer, you are a bit late for the contest. Let me know if you'd like to buy one of these unique pieces of gold.

Agnostic is sending me a $1, no charge. As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short.

You can also get one for free by registering at UPMA.com.

You're right, charlie1023! How embarrassing. (Edited to correct website address.)

Got my goldback! Alot nicer then I imagined. How many businesses accept these in Utah? I'd love to see these become a viable option. I'd even consider moving to a state that used them

Hi twoten. Yours is exactly the kind of reaction I was hoping for. Using constitutional money is so critical to our liberty that you would even consider moving to Utah. That's inspiring. I want to start researching who in the Texas legislature might turn a friendly ear to the idea in the Lone Star state. (Did all you kids at home respectfully remove your hats when I uttered the name of Texas?) If you think about it, it's actually quite regrettable that we need the states to pass a law to make gold money just to reverse the damage and confusion wrought by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

If you think the 1 Goldback is nice, you should hold the 50 in your hand. Size matters!

Received mine today, thank you shinnosuke

My initial impression is that I like the design. The old school styling gives it a classy feel instead of a gawdy look that one would think bright gold paper would inspire. Also, since it is covered in some kind of plastic, I was kind of expecting the edges to be sharp, but this alleviates my fears of multiple "paper" cuts, haha

After the holidays I want to do some more research into these, to determine if I feel that there's real viability as a usable currency here. I'll probably end up ordering more of these either way. At the very least, they will make cool stocking stuffers and perhaps even serve as a gateway drug into "hard" bullion

Gateway to hard bullion! After the plastic, a little Colorado silver. Then some Cali gold. That's a perfect description of what I hope will happen to the masses.

The plastic used is called polymer. Tough but not sharp on the edges.

Got it, thank you SO much Doug. I have to admit, I was getting kind of tired of seeing the posts about these things. My eyes were even starting to glaze over like they do when I read the same thing over and over again from some people. However, it's impressive! I happened to see a friend right after it arrived, showed him, told him about UPMA's freebie because he liked it too. I REALLY needed to see one and actually hold it. The pictures don't do it justice because from every angle it changes. Perfect idea - we'll help you recoup your investment.

Spending it? Ummmm..... I'm not so sure I'm ready for that. I might need a few more before I can remove it from under my pillow.

There are a number of people here from Utah, I might have to get a lanyard that'll fit the goldback to see if it starts any conversations.

I received mine yesterday. I was struck by its design, it was quite striking. Thanks for introducing me to this, and for the contest   :)

Interesting piece of gold/currency
Thank you for your generous offer
As a collector I'm likely to add the other denominations just because that's what I do
