Being that the Engelhards are only 1982-1987 and much lower mintage, and the ASE from 1986 to "eternity" with the recent dates in the tens of millions, not exactly apples to apples comparison. A key date ASE is probably worth more though, but I would go with the 100 Engelhard.

The price is the same. I would assume that some people might prefer ASE because it is "Government silver" with a $1 face value.

Odd that folks would desire government silver to protect against the excesses of government. I'll go private any time, especially with Engelhard.

Seems to me the premium on prospectors has been more volatile than eagles over the years. I like stability so definitely eagles.
I'm clearly not very bright.

Appearance is everything. An ASE recognized the world over as representing the power, stability and value as does the U$D just in a hard currency kind of way.

Love the new Avatar. Thanks for posting it for me, Boss. Much appreciated.

Eagles are more recognizable therefore has a higher probability of getting a better premium.

If price is the same, I'd buy YPS....................I mean........ASEs.........All jokes aside, ASE's are easier to sell on a short notice, more liquid. My LCS pays more for ASEs and buys them regardless of market conditions. ASEs have my vote

I don't remember how I set the voting, I maybe set it for 30 days. I realize the quantity stated is for 100 coins, so this is a little off the chain.

If I was going to sell a monsterbox of ASEs, and was in no particular hurry, I'd probably go to one of the major regional coin shows. Why...well why not? I'm going to have a big wad of cash and I might see something I would want to spend it on.

Remember...I'm in no hurry to sell, and I enjoy coin shows. That's the scenario. This is what I consider to be the outcomes.

If I shopped around a monsterbox of ASEs, those dealers are going to yawn and the premiums are going to be low.

If I shopped around a monsterbox of BU Prospectors, those dealers would start a bidding war, maybe a riot!

Here's how I'd do it.

I'd walk the floor, introduce myself, let them take a peek, and tell them bidding starts at 1300 at the lunch counter. At 1300, I would hand each dealer a card, open the box, open a couple of tubes and inform them of the minimum bid I was willing to accept. I would complete the sale at the winning dealers table.

Before you say there is no such thing as a monsterbox of BU Engelhard American Prospectors, let me assume you that they exist, but there can't be very many of them. Those "gubmint" boxes work just fine.

The vote is now 35 - 28, in favor of ASE's. The clock is running, the end-date/time is unknown, but I believe limited.

Vote early, vote often.

There are no prizes for voter participation in this ongoing survey.

If you can posit a valid challenge to the construction of the current survey, I "might" be willing to reconstruct a survey that could provide 3 prizes: "total si'", "total no", and "Gran maestro o senora".

Seek Buddah Turtle for clarity. Avoid Helen at all costs.

Lol if you think a bidding war would break out over prospectors...

Nice thought though...

Oh and in your scenario, you be hauling them all back home...

Your comments are valid.

It is not a bidding war.

It is an opportunity to place a bid over the minimum. It has worked before, but not with Prospectors, and that was back in the 1980's. Nonetheless, that is how I'd offer them, and I believe I would have a few bids.

Please be sure to vote! Thanks.
