Extra bonus!

anyway,, brag off

I'd say that's a pretty good brag Carssman. Especially in CADollars.

A one year type with only 3,540 minted Canadian $2.00 gold piece. Makes me wonder what the survivor rate is in AU. Lots were made into jewelry, some hit the melting pots.

Reminds me of the Newfoundland $2.00 gold piece.

I don't know if this is a brag or not, but I went to my LCS today and found this... any ideas what it is? I couldn't find anything on Google...

I can't add a picture, so you can check them out here...

Anyone know how to shrink a picture? I tried cropping, but it still didn't work. :(

Definitely supposed to be old Franz-Joseph, the Grand Poobah of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Looks approx. 1890's per other coin profiles of Franz. Don't see any A-H gold coins that match.
Reverse wording is partially obscured by solder(?).. no denomination.. and looks to be plated.

Some info here, I would lean toward this being a contemporary counterfeit.

Managed to get a random year 1 oz Panda from Apmex via ebay for $996 shipped. This included the 4x ebuck offer as well as 12% off via ebay gift card tricks. Just waiting to see what year arrives now.

This is not so much as a brag as I'm asking the Bullion Stacker brethren their opinion.
Was deciding whether to purchase either a 1/4 American Gold Eagle or a Mexican gold 10 peso coin. Cost difference between the two. The American Gold Eagle was selling for $4 more than the Mexican 10 Peso. I went with the American Gold Eagle for a bit more money. Good idea or what are the BS members thoughts. I'm curious.
Comments welcomed.
Thanks.
Todd

Good choice. The AGE cost is $1268 per oz and the Pesos is $1298.
Easier to liquidate and 91.66% > 90 % :P
But i like the reverse of the Gold pesos

Kinda depends on what you're after Todd.
The Quarter Oz Eagle would be a better choice for me....
Recognition and ease of resale would top my priority list.
I am sure there are good arguments for the other side also ;)

I own several of both; one can hardly go wrong with AGEs and the Mexican Mint, the oldest in the Western Hemisphere, is well-known. Remember that, as money, gold is fungible: gold is gold, regardless of design. I would more interested in genuine-versus-counterfeit. You did fine.
