According to Seeking Alpha it was 99.76 around 1939. https://seekingalpha.com/article/422081 ... 195-silver It also appears we just hit a 10 year high.

Anybody else notice the disparity seems to start right after we stopped using silver in our currency?

Yes, but commerce with barter like currency is to slow now. Although, it wouldn't have to be. Nor, is it said their would be enough for utilization, they even learned to stop using as much brass in coinage. But with inflation we would be carrying tubes of silver around with us now.. Gold would never work for general commerce, it would all be hoarded, much as it still is. BUT, if we could ever get a real peg to something, maybe a crypto with a real PM vault, and find a way to get the middlemen, overhead, and outrageous transactional fee crap out of it out of it? Heck, it might even turn out to be a good investment, real money - egads. Well, then maybe PM's or silver could have a future.
