It's freaking raining again so I'm indoors on a Saturday again, I spent a good part of the day cleaning my office and going through the CD collection. Here's a few selections from one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

I'm warning you upfront. This band is weird--one of those groups that just doesn't fit into any genre neatly. Industrial Punk Metal perhaps. They take their name from a famous Ayn Rand quote and apparently "like [their] coffee black, just like [their] metal"

Check out the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. A cool indie band I first heard on WXPN (University of Penn) radio a few years back. Again, it's hard to pinpoint the style. It has an artsy theatrical kind of bend that makes me think of Kate Bush, Siouxsie and the Banshees (ooooh. that'd be a good one for this thread) and early Tori Amos. Anyhow, hope you enjoy.

How about something a little more upbeat.

I don't think it would be a stretch to say that these Aussie lads don't take themselves too serious. Most of their videos are equal parts sketch comedy and music. Mainly they are a metal act, but if that's not your style, just hang in there a minute and they'll switch it up. Metal, Jazz, Funk, Salsa, even Kodo. There is definitely a Faith No More/Mr. Bungle influence here.
