Anyone near Charleston, SC?

Postby Tommy2s » Tue Jan 16, 2018

I’ll be in Charleston with my family for the long weekend of feb. 16-19.

Anyone have any suggestions for this yankee? Keep in mind I’ll be with my fiancé, her dad, my 15 and 2 1/2 y/o girls ... we will have childcare if necessary.

Where to eat?

What to do?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Tommy

If you have not had it see if you can find Yuengling on tap; not in cans, ON TAP. Not sure if it is available down there but I drink it when in the Maryland/DC area.

I’ve had it on tap in Lancaster pa... but I don’t really drink beer anymore. It is delicious though.

that's a good suggestion DRP. Mine would be Killians on Draft and stay away from SilverHoarder3

Haha... a yankee down south should always take the chance to enjoy local kindness no matter who it’s from... I think...

Hardy har har. Try the local microbrews. You’ll find them all around down there.

Don't fool yourself. Yuengling is a gateway drug. It's what started me down the sordid path of craft beer snobbery.

Before you know it you're selling plasma and turning tricks at the rest stop for a six pack of 90 minute IPAs and waking up in a sticky puddle of Mad Elf drippings. You've been warned!

Thread sufficiently jacked?

Plenty of great restaurants near the city market and French quarter areas. Recommend Hominy Grill for breakfast (Shrimp and Grits) located on Rutledge Ave. Can check out the market, Rainbow Row, Fort Sumter, and the many historic buildings/churches, etc. around the city.

Thanks for all the tips guys. They were all appreciated. House tours, walking tours, carriage tours The food (Virginia’s, fig, poogans porch, coast, Callie’s biscuits, and snob) hospitality and history have been amazing. A long weekend wasn’t nearly enough time. Tonight will be the Charleston grill and a ghost tour...tomorrow a plantation before our late flight.
