Christmas Bon Fires in La

I received a few nice messages about my bon fire post so i wanted to add a few pics. My cell phone doesnt take pics but i will try to get some more pics soon.

Plus a rare sighting of a Snapping Snow Turtle! :turtle:

It looks like a lot of artistry and engineering goes into some of these bonfires. It almost seems a shame to torch them.

These structures are amazing, they love what they do. All of the trees are harvested along the river batture land. The insides are filled with bamboo cane which pops like fire crackers when burnt. :)

If the trees are freshly cut, are they using something to get the fire going? Accelerant? I like the designs, very cool.

They start cutting the wild willow trees around Thanksgiving and they are dry enough to burn by Christmas, sometimes they will add a little bit of diesel at the bottom to get it started. They love what they do.
I usually build a smaller version of a bonfire on my land for New Years eve :)

A friend of mine from college has a huge week-long family & friend gathering every summer in NE PA with jet-skis and high diving and 4-wheelers and motorhomes and camping. They always build a big bonfire. Not as fancy as the art above, but it burns :thumbup: . I have yet to participate in that week of craziness :lol:
