In a broad crackdown on college basketball corruption, U.S. prosecutors unveiled charges Tuesday against 10 coaches, managers, financial advisers and representatives of a sportswear company, accusing them of bribery, fraud and corruption in recruitment in college basketball. Federal prosecutors in Manhattan said they will announce the charges against the defendants at a noon news conference. Among those charged are four coaches.

No! Say it ain't so!!! Corruption in college athletics? What is the world coming to??

Seriously, not even news to me except that someone finally got caught . . . again.
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent," Credited to Goebbles.

I've thought for some time that NCAA players ought to get some small cut from all the profits they rake in for these Universities. Most players will not be in the NFL one day, but their bodies still take all the brunt force trauma. If you aren't good enough for the NFL, there isn't a huge upside to playing college ball. Now if only there were a way to compensate some of the players.... maybe some Monero?

College hoops corruption case poised to take down Hall of Fame coaches, top programs, lottery picks

“This goes a lot deeper in college basketball than four corrupt assistant coaches,” said a source who has been briefed on the details of the case. “When this all comes out, Hall of Fame coaches should be scared, lottery picks won’t be eligible to play and almost half of the 16 teams the NCAA showed on its initial NCAA tournament show this weekend should worry about their appearance being vacated.”

Bombshells in opening statements of college basketball corruption trial

We knew there were going to be fireworks during the trials for the eight men facing wire fraud charges stemming from the FBI’s investigation into corruption in college basketball, and day one did not disappoint.

The defense attorney for Jim Gatto, a former Adidas executive accused of funneling money from the apparel company to recruits and their families, acknowledged that her client had more or less done all of the above.

The story from Day 1 of the first trial of the college basketball corruption scandal is that Jim Gatto and his lawyer are going to freely and willfully toss around names and identify who he worked with, what players he paid and what coaches requested that it happen.
