Dusty looks like a lot of fun. That is a parade worthy little Jeep.

I could see overlanding in it with the top off and the windshield down....camping gear loaded in. Fishing rods sticking high out out the back.

Thanks for the post and back story.

These days I would like to see him with a snow blower connected to the PTO in the front!

Jfk, very cool little jeep and story. Does it have the PTO driven winch? I knew a guy that had one of those.

Tons can be done with the power take off. I always thought that the ditch witch was cool.

Here is a pic of a Jeep running a snow blower off the front PTO. Kinda what your thinking?

Exactly what I need! The sun is out today, haven't seen much of that since Christmas.

It does have a winch on the PTO. Considering replacing the old cable with something safer.

Got my AVE Savegre wheels in and some Nitto Trail Grapplers 35-12.5-17 mounted and balanced on them. Also picked up some nice matching black lugs. My attention to detail is painful (probably why I am a morgan guy). The Nittos have excellent reviews and am looking forward to getting them on the Jeep. The lift is in the mail and I expect to get it on the Jeep by Mid Feb. :D

Guess what I pulled off the Jeep today?

That's right; the Rockers. Stock rock rails found on the JK Rubicon can rub a 35" or larger tire @ full flex when those rear wheels get sucked up into the wells. So the solution? Trim them bad boys.

I used a strip of painters tape to give me a nice straight 1.25" chop line. Then I placed another band of tape just next to that so I could do my cutting on the discard side of the line. I dropped a hole though the metal with a air powered cut off wheel then finished the general removal via Dewalt jigsaw. I then used my cut off wheel to clean up up my lines followed by a small amount of hand filing to remove the burs.

I could only do one today. The other will be done tomorrow. I will then take both rails to work and let them heat up to room temperature where I will complete this project. The second post of this mod will be made then.

So, you are going from like a 32" tire to a 35". Are you going to re-gear? You will definitely need to get the speedo adjusted.

BTW....the Jeep looks awesome.

Thank you James.

Yes Jim, as Marcus stated the 4.10's will roll 35's nicely. 37's would be a different story.

Marcus, I am a teeth counting machine.

So here is a mounted rocker pre-trim with the tape placed showing what I would be removing. Look how close the stock tire is.....35's would have a large chance of rubbing.

My supplies: Alcohol for cleaning surfaces, Rustolium for painting raw metal, and Gorilla glue epoxy to secure the end cap.

The finished product. Unmounted drying in my floor at the office. Not to bad of a job if I do say so myself. :geek:

That is a ways away. Until then, you have to set back and look at build pictures. They're pretty fun though.

Very happy with the outcome. Pinch seam is still miles away from stock rubber. I'll eval that area again after putting the lift on. Oh and guess what brown Santa delivered today. :D

It will be 2-4 weeks before this gets installed so you non-Jeep meganerds will not have to worry about this thread being daily bumped by me in the interim. I do have a few other projects so maybe a small post here or there. :shh:
