haha.......musk

Postby mnymgr1 » Mon Jun 18, 2018

not trying to add to any 'political' problem threads here at BS, but I found this pretty entertaining & funny.
I am guessing the tweets from Musk are true but didn't verify them, and no clue if he is saying this tongue & cheek.
But Musk stated last week that he is a socialist
Must be great being a billionaire socialist, just like all the other billionaire socialists ....lmao

you really can't make this crap up, no clue how he could say that with a straight face as a founder of paypal, one of the largest banking oligopolys ever created. These ultra large banking companies have crushed jobs in the financial sector just like amazon has crushed jobs in retail. Just shaking head

how does a desk jockey profit from this situation directly?

Postby mnymgr1 » Thu Jun 21, 2018

Most of us don't own or drive commercial trucks, i'm guessing.
I guess we could invest in public companies
But how could someone make money directly without middlemen on the Permian Basin pipeline bottleneck ??
For instance, partner with a trucking company outside of the oil industry to expand / include 200 bbl loads of crude?

I'm pretty sure I'm reading it correctly and doing the math correctly, but at a $25 discount for permian oil, a 200 bbl truck load is carrying a $5000 discount. Take that to a pipeline that has capacity, hundreds of miles away I'm sure, and that discount should disappear. So then to calculate the cost of fuel, driver, etc, etc, to get those barrels that distance, plus the cost of getting back to the shut-in oil capacity for another run.

For every 120 miles of distance, 6 mpg, $3 diesel cost, it's a $60 fuel charge. For 240 miles one way, looking at $120 x 2, $240 cost. Plus driver for a 10-12 hr day at $50-75 / hr (???) is $500-750. So operating cost is $1000 roughly, with a $4000 spread for the business owner. Obviously no clue on my part what cdl drivers make, nor the distance to an open pipeline with capacity to eliminate that discount. I will take another total guess in the dark and say that a new Rig Class 307 with oil tanker would cost a million or less, and the manufacturer would be willing to finance it internally at a roughly 6.5% rate of payoff (P&I) so the annual cost would be $65k / year.

If you could really take an operating profit of $4k per roundtrip, would be 17 days to payoff the fixed expenses. And that's with only 1 trip per rig per day, be 8-9 days to payoff fixed expenses if you had 2 drivers. So for fun, 360 days x 2 is 720 round trips x $4000 operating profit = $2,880,000 profit, less $1,000,000 payoff for truck in year 1.

OK, my numbers must be way way off, distance is off, driver cost / truck cost way way off....

UP has terminals at Odessa, Midland, and (I think) Big Springs. Not as cost effective as the pipelines but much better than truck.

Maybe the bigger question is... why should we be in a race to drain these crude basins? Perhaps capping some wells (especially if it can't be economically moved) would be prudent from a national strategic reserve perspective.
O&G companies won't like it of course, which means their boy Pruitt wont like it.. so it probably wouldn't be considered anytime soon.

The Cushing oil storage tanks are being drawn down due to refineries coming back on line and decreasing growth in Permian due to the bottleneck in pipelines. Overhang from OPEC meeting increase is mostly gone today and oil price and energy stocks are climbing. This should continue as US heads into driving season which increases demand.

Am long oil....Permian bottleneck is just "icing on the cake". The number of drilled but uncompleted wells in Permian is going to keep increasing and Permian drilling contracts are likely to be trimmed for the rest of the year until pipelines get built. This is because the oil price differential from Midland to Texas refineries and export terminals is increasing due to additional shipping costs (rail, trucks and pipeline fees).

yeezy brand is owned by kayne west, so I guess so
one of the hottest shoes out there when they 'drop'
i think they made a ton more of this one though, adidas waiting room is showing most still in stock but I can't get thru to buy them, and most other sites just came back up.

I do enjoy wasting my time for my son though....haha
