It is the Mediterranean. Well, more specifically the Italians refer to it as Tyrrhenian Sea - which is contained within the Med.

I mailed a check out in mid February that must have followed tornadoes, floods and Nor'easters all the way to MD. It got there yesterday. 21 days!

Yikes! We are going to get hit with a third storm.. looks like 12 inches plus where I am.. been working on sloping a few low spots and found a clogged drainpipe and cleaned that, so hopefully no flooding this time..generator ready, snowblower ready, liquor cabinet ready, ticket to Vegas...not quite ready.. :(
Outstanding!

The Mississippi River here is at its 8th all time high mark  and for only the 12th time in history the Army Corps of Engineers are opening the Bonnet Care Spillway which is up stream of New Orleans. It was built to divert part of the river into Lake Ponchatrain and on into the Gulf, bypassing NOLA. I live a couple of miles from the river as the crow flies and the underground water table is so high now, I was digging a hole to plant a tree and i hit water after only two digs of my shovel.

The river gets to be a mile wide down here so you can only imagine the amount of water flowing down river.
I was a BASF operator @ the BASF river docks and whenever the Miss. river gets high the Coast Guard shuts down all river traffic, giving us some nice days at work doing absolutely nothing, day and night ;)

It looks like things are ramping up to be a very severe weather event here in North Alabama...they have dismissed schools at noon tomorrow...high winds, baseball sized hail, and tornadoes are very possible. Pray for us in the deep South.

hope all of you stay safe and basements dry
wish we could take some of your snow

read in the chicago tribune today that the 'deep tunnel' project which is an underground cavern built over last 40 years I think filled up a few weeks back in a single day. 5 billion gallons of water/sewage. You'd think they could dig a hole a lot bigger over 40 years but it is crook county.

haven't looked recently but how are the droughts around the country ? any still there or have rains and snow taken care of them ?

These tropical storms can be deceiving, we had one pass slowly through here in Aug 2016 that flooded so many homes and almost flooded my home. A lot of sandbags/a water pump and even more prayers saved our home. The Swamp water's edge was at my back door and stayed for weeks. I was one of the few lucky ones next to he swamp that didnt get any water. Had one room with some carpet discoloration from the slab moisture? The parish had to destroy a good part of nearby Alligator Bayou Rd to let the water drain out.
And this event wasnt even a named storm, just a slow moving tropical depression.

Hurricane season doesn’t officially start until June 1st, so this one is a little early. Here in the Florida panhandle have been getting a lot of rain the past two weeks, so this tropical storm couldn’t come at a worse time. Hopefully it moves on through and doesn’t just linger.

we got a drenching storm and the azz behind me put up a privacy fence along with building up his yard to keep the water out of his yard. Not legal as we're both in the flood plain. And his backyard drain is now fenced off, so the water just filled up my yard as my drain couldn't handle it all, lost a basement wall to water near a window well.
Was not expecting this today but rain seems to be over. My new 400/gallon minute pump worked but no way to keep up with an actual stream of water that heads to my property.
So glad my teen was home or I'd be in a lot worse shape.
