Unbelievable but a Tropical disturbance is predicted to move from the Gulf of Campeche into the Gulf of Mexico and TX/La next week, and TS/Hurricane Irma is moving due West and may be in the Gulf the week after that.
Be prepared

looks to already be a category 4, headed in a somewhat straight line for Miami. Florida governor just declared state of emergency, as has Puerto Rico.
Don't think they know if it veers north and runs up the East coast or goes over Southern Florida and hits the gulf coast states.

We really need to start controlling the weather over the next 20-50 years

Watching Irma pretty close. Hoping it doesn't get into the gulf then move north. We haven't had a direct hit here in Panama City in a long time. Let's pray she takes a hard turn and misses us all. The track they have it taking they say there is nothing to slow it down and she may even get stronger.

My dear friend, only God controls the weather.

"Job 37:9 "Out of the south comes the storm, And out of the north the cold.
10 "From the breath of God ice is made, And the expanse of the waters is frozen.
11 "Also with moisture He loads the thick cloud; He disperses the cloud of His lightning.
12 "It changes direction, turning around by His guidance, That it may do whatever He commands it On the face of the inhabited earth.
13 "Whether for correction, or for His world, Or for lovingkindness, He causes it to happen.
14 "Listen to this, O Job, Stand and consider the wonders of God."

Postby mnymgr1 » Tue Sep 05, 2017

is possibly Jose.
here's to hoping it dies out all the way out in the middle of the sea, they mention that the winds from Irma could actually keep Jose from strengthening.

We knew this was coming:

Beyonce, George Clooney Among Stars Set for Multi-Network Hurricane Harvey Relief Telethon

Date set for Sept 12. By that time it might be a combined Harvey-Irma telethon.

Maybe they will sweeten the pot and agree to match the donations dollar for dollar.

This just seems cruel:

'We don't have anything': landlords demand rent on flooded Houston homes

“Our landlords say we have to pay rent and late fees and every day it is going up,” Fuentes said. “We are paying rent for somewhere we can’t live in.

Under the Texas property code, if a rental premises is “totally unusable” due to an external disaster then either the landlord or tenant can terminate the lease through written notice. But if the property is “partially unusable” because of a disaster, a tenant may only get a reduction in rent determined by a county or district court.

The NRA is on top of this, since it doesn't seem legal:

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin signed a similar order in 2005 amid the destruction from Hurricane Katrina allowing the seizure of private weapons, which the NRA opposed in a federal court. Congress later passed a bill, supported by the NRA and signed by President George W. Bush, banning future seizures of weapons during emergencies.
...
"The NRA is prepared to pursue legal action to halt Gov. Mapp's dangerous and unconstitutional order."

Majority of models have it coming up the coast after hitting FL then into SC. Charleston already beginning evacuation plans.

Bill,
You are north of Charleston and Columbia right?
If not let me know if you need anything as my home is open to you.
I am very inland in Spartanburg but the flooding can still hit here.
