I would like the Christian Outreach Website/Foundation called Reasonable Faith to accept bitcoin (and/or other cryptos).
Reasonable Faith http://reasonablefaith.org/ is a new model of evangelizing for Christianity. It used to be that missionaries would go to a far off land and work on a 1-1 face to face campaign with people in another country. While these efforts are admirable, in the age of the internet it makes sense to evangelize and leverage one's efforts online to reach a much larger audience, and to answer the hard questions that people ask themselves every day. Too often large Christian thinkers stay out of the realms of science and philosophy. Reasonable Faith tackles both of these subjects through the apologetic work of Dr. William Lane Craig - potentially the greatest Christian debater/thinker of our modern era.
Each year, Reasonable Faith does an "End of Year" fundraising drive where any/all donations are matched by some large party up to $250,000. So I save up monthly in a saving account each year and donate during this drive to maximize their potential donations. I'm sure many people do the same thing.
This year, had I bought bitcoin each month instead of saving fiat dollars in my online bank account, I would have been able to donate the equivalent of 5.7 times the amount of USD. I easily calculated this using the bitcoin 20/20 hindsight calculator: https://for-bitcoin.com/calculator/. So a donation of $1,000 would have been $5,700 in bitcoin. A donation of $10,000 would have been $57,000 in bitcoin. You get the idea. But Reasonable Faith doesn't accept crypto (yet).
Additionally, when givers donate using bitcoin, there is no capital gains tax - similar to giving stocks. The cost basis is irrelevant to the charity or non-profit. They can cash out their bitcoin to cash easily as well using BitPay.
This upcoming year in 2018, I will be buying a set amount of bitcoin each month to donate to a Christian Charity/ Non-Profit at the end of the year. I will be donating it in bitcoin. I don't care if the USD price of bitcoin has soared 20x. I'm still giving the bitcoin and the charity/non-profit will get the benefit. So my goal is to have Reasonable Faith begin to accept bitcoin/crypto. If not, I will find a second Christian charity that does accept it, perhaps something like: http://run2rescue.com/index.php
I have already emailed Reasonable Faith about accepting bitcoin. Let's see if we can get a victory out of this.

If you teach them how they can do it, that will go a long way to getting them to accept it.

Good point. Let's see if they reply to my email. I'm sure they are busy this time of year.

William Lane Craig is a pretty thoughtful dude. I'll be interested to see how his ministry responds.

Re: An appeal to Reasonable Faith
I have sent a second email but still no response yet. I will not give up easily.
I have now sent my first two months of contribution money in USD to GDAX for my first purchase. I believe BTC will be priced much higher in February so I decided to purchase the first two months worth of BTC as soon as I could on a dip. I was able to scoop up some BTC in the $14k price range. I suspect that will be considered a good buy in a month or two.
The charitable balance has now begun to grow (in USD). It will sit on GDAX until the end of the year donation.
