That is extremely poor business planning, and also a very poor selection by the investors.

Everybody knows, or should know, that you hold your Bitcoin off the exchange in a cold-storage wallet. That isn't breaking news, Silver Doge, myself, and the media have been preaching this for mantra for a long time.

Keeping your private keys "private" is your responsibility. Too bad for the investors, but it is just another example of how money doesn't equate with intelligence (or simple common sense). There is no FDIC with Bitcoin.

This is a quote from the article:

“This is a tough lesson learned,” Calgary customer Elvis Cavalic told CBC, adding that he had been unable to withdraw $15,000 in holdings in October 2018.

“I would probably avoid [cryptocurrency] in the future,” Cavalic said. “They’ve left us completely in the dark. I’m kind of preparing for the worst.”

"Kind of preparing"? This is "game over man". I pity you fools.

It is a good day for Bitcoin. 26,500 Bitcoins are probably lost forever, so every other "safely guarded" Bitcoin becomes more precious and valuable.

Once hailed as unhackable, blockchains are now getting hacked

More and more security holes are appearing in cryptocurrency and smart contract platforms, and some are fundamental to the way they were built.

It hasn't happened to Bitcoin, and money can be counterfeited.

Actually, that discussion belongs in Alt-coins topic.

Now that Samsung is acknowledging Bitcoin, I wonder who the next big player will be?

Interesting too. Samsung has their own payment system, I guess it works as well as Google Wallet (a noted failure).

Maybe the lack of decentralization?

Apple and Goldman Sachs have teamed-up to introduce a credit card specifically for use on the iPhone.

No wonder Apple is starting to come apart at the seams.
